I hope that you are all enjoying your holiday. Some of you have emailed me about other books that you are reading and bookstores that you have visited, and I am delighted to see that you are pursuing literate lives. I just reread Malcolm Gladwell’s What The Dog Saw: And Other Adventures. The book is about Obsessives, Pioneers, and other varieties of Minor Genius. It is a book about people who are very good at what they do, but are not necessarily well-known. As a reader and writer, I must say that I enjoy reading these short essays because of the way he engages us as a writer. Some of his premises may leave you saying…hum? But as a writer studying the format, you say ahhh.
