“It is horrifying that …

“It is horrifying that we have to fight our own government to save the environment.”
― Ansel Adams

The charge was to spend two days without using disposable items so that we can add a dent to the trash crisis.  Yes, it is a crisis, and one that many don’t seem to notice, or even consider. Where does garbage go when we throw it away? I suppose many don’t care as long as it does not pile up in the front yard, or the smell of trash does not linger in the air. But where it ends up is quite frightening.

This weekend while grocery shopping I decided to choose products with the least packaging, look for products and packaging made from renewable resources, and avoid plastic packaging and containers. I choose  juice that came in glass over plastic and I brought my reusable bags to the store (even department stores). I have saved an excess of over 40 plastic bags in just two days!

I told everyone that I could about the hazard of disposable items, and I even took the refuse pledge on the site Plastic Pollution Coalition.

It was a rewarding weekend that has morphed into a lifestyle for me. I am determined to make a difference; you can too!
